I've been following FF for 4 weeks (5, with one week of vacation), weekdays only, small amount of half-and-half in my daily coffees. The first week, I was woozy before and after breaking my fast, but that didn't last.
I exercise a lot - strenuously, 1-2 hours daily (bike commuting, cardio/elliptical, weights, hill-walking, Pilates). I wasn't worried about my morning commute/exercise because I was already breaking my fast after my workout. I was a little concerned about the evening bike commute - a little freaky that first week, but fine since.
My body has released almost 5 pounds thus far and I feel mostly good. It's been an interesting transition from the Body for Life 6-meals a day mentality. (I lost 45lbs on BFL 6 years ago, but have been having a hard time getting back on that saddle after the birth of my son in 2006. I lost the baby weight with the help of postpartum depression (not recommended), but have since gained back about 20 of the lbs I lost.)
This morning, my son said of my (morning) breath: "You smell like pink bubblegum" (not sure if/how he knows what pink bubblegum smells like, since to the best of my knowledge, he's never had it).
I'm wondering if this might be an indication of ketosis. I've noticed my (TMI!) pee smelling a bit funny and I have a funny taste in my mouth (but I can't really smell my own breath).
My other question is - is it safe to donate blood when you've been fasting. I regularly give blood, but the Red Cross always wants to make sure you've eaten a meal before donating. The blood drives are during the day when I've fasted 12-15 hours. I'm a little concerned about passing out!
Anyone have any experience with donating blood during a fast?
