[epilepsy] Shorter Post-ictal Periods?

HI all,

Megan stood up as a bridesmaid for her sister Gwen this past
Saturday, and about a half hour or so before the wedding, she had a
seizure. Everyone else gets more excited or upset about her seizures
than I currently do, as I know that she will be fine, and we've been
through so many over the last two or three years. Anyhow, I recall my
main concern when someone told me that she was having a seizure was
that I hoped she would still be able to participate in the wedding,
as she had looked forward to it so much. Long story made short, she
not only participated in the wedding, but also played with her
nephews and the other small kids, and then danced all night long,
probably more than anyone else there.

Her post-ictal period was virtually non-existent that day. And
although her boyfriend said that this seizure wasn't quite as bad as
usual, I have noticed that as she has had more seizures, her post-
ictal periods seem to be getting shorter and she recovers from many
seizures almost immediately within twenty minutes or a half an hour.
Granted, the incentive of watching a movie or play, having a
performance or being in a wedding may play some part in this rapid
recovery. I just wondered if anyone else with generalized tonic
clonic seizures noted that their post-ictal periods have gotten
shorter over time? Or is this unusual?

Take care,
Tammy
