I'm a Type 2 diabetic and I can handle eating beans. It is low on the glycemic scale and is full of fiber. You should try eating 1 cup of beans and test 1 hour after eating them and see what your blood sugar is. Also, walking or some form of exercise helps burn up blood glucose. I plan on having a lo-carb taco tonight for dinner--a lo-carb tortilla along with hamburger and 1/2 cup of refried beans, along with sliced tomatoes and lettuce. My blood sugar at 2 hours will be around 113, and my morning fasting around 85-90. Everyone is different, but experimenting with different foods will give you more of a variety. I stay lo carb also--20-30 carbs per meal per day and sometimes less. Jaye

From a blood sugar stand point, most bean recipes are not for people who wish to control blood sugar closely, due to their
glycemic load. .
