That's a body-builder trick too. Exercise on an empty stomach, which
uses up the stored glycogen.

Also though ... exercise causes the stored sugar etc. to get mobilized.
Which means (non-intuitively enough) when you get really hungry, 
exercise can make you feel like you've eaten!

My favorite thing to do right now is to run in the park at sunset. Since it's summer, sunset it quite late, and I usually end up eating earlier. I try to eat a couple hours before I run, I think it's bad to exercise immediately after eating.

Well, I will try to put some sort of exercise in earlier, before eating.
