I love grapefruit, it is one of my fruits of choice. I take 1000mg of metformin
a day. I have never read it should be avoided except if taking certain
statins.
BTW - as a treat sometimes I make a drink of about 1/4 to 1/3 of orange or
grapefruit juice and the rest diet sprite or diet sierra mist - something like
that. It gives me a bit of juice taste with some fizz and dilution.

Independence Day - Rio Grande Valley Citrus Slaw - 13g Carbs,
My bottle of metformin has no warning about grapefruit. I just did a Google
search and found several references to a South Africa study that advised T2s
on metformin to not drink grapefruit juice as it could cause lactic
acidosis. In my opinion, a diabetic should never drink juice unless
treating for a low. The report said nothing about grapefruit segments. I
have 1/2 of a grapefruit several days a week and have never had any problems
from eating it, despite the fact that I take metformin. Not advocating you
start eating it but just saying.
