I think in the beginning as so many artists that it was all about making it at first.  He was young and a having fun and not realizing the business side of it all.  But as you get older and grow in the industry you learn from what you might could have done differently and you end up wanting to express yourself through your music in a much deeper way.  So with time and experience he has been able to do that!

I was always under the impression that Prince wanted to just 'make it' in the music business. I don't think it was because he had something to say and wanted the world to learn something new or different.

Later in P's career, during the Love4oneanother Era and there after, that point of view changed or the direction of the music changed. The first 10yrs of P's career was about Love, Sex and GOD just like the same premise is there 'now' but, when we watch an interview or read a transcript, he always has something to say e.g. chem-trails, music history of some sort understanding about owning your master recordings.

From your point of view, would you say P was all about 'making it' or was there a message from the beginning?

(As an artist and thinking back on when I was performing, it was about the 'love' of making music and performing it, I didn't have anything specific to say, I just loved music and making music).
