Oh, yeah, in CA you definitely need a car if you're not near public transportation!! Did you never take driver's ed around age 16? Did your doctor okay driving--or at least have you had the discussion with him/her?
A driver's ed course is the way to go--that way, you get a discount on insurance. It's not hard, but I totally get the need to have some independence. Or, you could buy a Vespa :)

I'm new to this group. I have been a epileptic for 36 years. I never learned how to drive.I do have family to take me were I need to go but
I do wish I was more independent. I haven't had a siezure in over a year
and I want to learn how to drive nobody is willing to teach me. I do understand why but for years the only time I have siezures is in my sleep. I don't think they understand how hard it is to live in California and not drive. I am very limited on what I can do. Any ideas?
