I was on a plateau for some time. What ended up breaking the plateau
for me was going on a "low iron" diet. For me at least, the issue
appears to be iron in my diet. Which kind of makes sense: high
ferritin levels (and mine ARE high) can disrupt glucose handling and
can lead to Type 2 diabetes. Iron in your diet gets stored in the
cells lining your gut, and I'm thinking that changes something about
your appetite or how food is handled? Anyway, that was the experiment.
So I dropped beer (the beer I drank had molasses in it) and eat beef
only in moderation. Switched mostly to fish and fowl for meat. Also I
eat more eggs and take lecithin with meals. And avoid any "enriched"
foods (most commercial starches have iron added). And then I dropped
another 2 pants sizes.
I expect there are different issues for different people though.
Keeping a food log and charting "what works" can be very helpful.

I was not doing anything different, but for the next 2 weeks or so, it seemed I was just maintaining at about 17% body fat,... down from about 19% body fat. Now to somebody who's trying to hit 10%, this is not good news.
