I to have a child with epilepsy she is not controled with meds I would let her try if the person who was helping her understood what to do and most important a helmet let him have fun you dont want him growing bitter when he is older or affraid of everything i know its hard to let our babies do things but if he has been seizure free for 6 months i dont see how it would be a problem just my oppinion

Subject: [epilepsy] Ski ing and epilepsy
I need some advice/ suggestions. My 6 year old son is epileptic, but currently has been controlled with Lamotigine for 6 months. He wants to learn to ski, my husband thinks that he shouldn't since it may be asking for trouble in the future. I take the view that as long as we take the appropriate precautions, it is OK to start and then review later as he gets older, since it will be a while before he is out and about too much (we don't ski).
I (we) try to ensure that he has a normal a life as possible, so with things like swimming at school, I go too etc.
Thoughts please.
