Tammy,

As a home health aid - I have worked in homes of elderly people
who had a monitor like you mentioned. One part was in the room
with the my patient and the other part was in my room where I
slept (lightly)so I would hear if he quit breathing.

I think they are called baby monitors -- so my guess is that you
can buy them in a baby store.
