There is very little difference between Depakene, Depakote, and Valproic Acid. Valproic Acid is the generic form of Depakote, but at least for me, the generic form was not strong enough, and I had begun to have seizures again.

The difference (if any) is very small. The generic for Depakene is valproic acid. The generic for Depakote is divalproex sodium.
