Liz - I know it doesn't work for everyone but Keppra has given me back the freedom that I lost at the age of 20. From the day I started taking it 8 years ago I have been free of all but the tiniest of auras, so small and light that no one could know. The side effects I have are a tiny bit of unsteadiness on my feet when I get out of bed in the morning, a few very small little muscle twitches aound my eyes which come and go, the memory of course, thirst, a dry mouth and the sleep problems. Funnily enough Keppra stops me from remembering my dreams unless I get woken up in the middle of 1 which is odd. All I take now is Keppra and Tegretol, calcium and glucosamine. I'm not even under a specialist any longer, just my regular doctor. I am fitter than I have ever been as I can now swim lengths without the fear of what could happen when I am out of my depth - it's wonderful and makes me realise just how lucky I am.
I've never heard of 5-HTP and just looked it up - how good is it at helping you to sleep - does it give you any other benefits/side effects??

> Suzanne, are we twins separated at birth??!! LOL I also have complete control for the first time ever--43 years!!--which is why I have moved heaven and earth to stay on it, but I don't drink, am off caffeine completely, and my doc took me off Ambien, so the 5-HTP is all I have. Just today, I'm trying splitting the dose up, now that I have the 250s. I took one at 6 am when I got up and will take the second at about 4 pm. We'll see what that does...
