Mark,
I remember when I was a teenager my parents would not let me get a driver's license. It was the worst thing that could possibly happen to a 16 year old. I went through a whole year of depression, tried to hurt myself, etc. Know where you are coming from.
Amazingly I lived through it. I don't know how old you are. If your mother is in her 80s I'm thinking we're about the same age. I also don't know what kind of situation you are in (yes, I meant to end that sentence with a preposition :). My grounding activity has always been digging in the dirt.
When I am angry, sad, depressed, happy, whatever emotion, I find that getting down on my hands and knees and getting my hands dirty is satisfying. There is a claming effect that overcomes me when I am a part of nature, not walking down the road, but immersed in soil and roots and leaves.
One of the very positive outcomes of this activity is that I can grow my own food and eat a much more nutrient rich diet than most of my friends. The experts don't really know what those micronutrients do or don't do but they all agree that local food grown with no chemicals is good for our immune systems.
Now what does this have to do with epilepsy? I have a theory that the more balanced your diet the healthier you are, in all ways. If I eat a lot of suger, for example, I notice that I am edgy-just one step away from a seizure in my book.
Now if you are into serious clean this might not work for you, but it is better than going to bed. And, I am going to be a bit humerous here, should you have a seizure you are already close to the ground. I think Mother nature would nurture you.
I live in town and it sounds like you live in the country. How I envy you. I remember walking down roads with big ditches when I was a kid. I am still trying to get back to the country. Have you explored those ditches? What kinds of wild edibles are in your area? What rare or endangered plants are making their homes there? Boy, what I wouldn't give to live where you do.
Be happy, we live one moment at a time.
Jackie
