I've been mulling over the idea of growing some kind of garden this spring and I think I've hit on a moment of clarity and decided that an herb garden is the way to go for me. Plus some hot peppers for extra flavoring in egg/tuna salad and the occasional snack.

That was an idea that came from Barry Grove's book. I e-mailed him about the vitamin C issue as well and he was very helpful

*LOVE* dark chicken meat!

Eades has always been a pusher of Protein. Yet, I still haven't quite picked up on why a larger proportion of Fat to Protein is always recommended. Has it really "clicked" for you, Rick, on why Protein isn't given higher >priority than Fat?

Yes, Eades believes that in the absence of carbs, our bodies use amino acids to create the glucose that our brain needs to function. If there's not enough circulating serum aminos to make the glucose to keep the brain alive, the body will use muscle tissue and the old wasted proteins from inside the cells due to metabolism- it cannot use fat for this. He recommends at least 100 grams of protein per day plus a little more for general repairs and immune system functions. This really isn't that high as bodybuilders try to get at least one gram of protein per pound of bodyweight each day. I don't think Eades or his publisher thought it would be a good idea to put out a book called "Fat Power". :)

Thanks, I'll check it out.
