[epilepsy] Re: Driving

Hi Cash,

We are all here for support, this is a good place to vent out and ask questions!!!

I can totaly relate to your not driving! I couldn't drive from 1988-2008 because my seizures weren't under control. After having a LTL and going 1 1/2 years seizure free I began driving again. You mentioned your reaction time being slower. I'm still on my Keppra and Trileptal, still playing sports like I have all my life.

Think about how many people take medications for so many different reasons and drive. You mentioned you family says you shouldn't drive? What do your feel, that is what is important! Its totally yours and your Drs. decision as far as driving or not. If not driving a car, is it safer to ride a bike on the road? That is what I did all my years not having a license! Its your call, not your families decision. If you like, you can email me at stephenpales@yahoo.com Take care, keep a smile on your face!

Steve

I really miss the freedom do go and do whatever and whenever i feel like it. During the time that I was fortunate enough to have a license my reaction time was pretty slow due to my medications. I took and am still taking Dilantin, Depakote and Clonazepam.

Many wonderful relationships would have worked had I only been able to drive. I respect my families wishes because they do not want me to drive again, but I am getting fed up with not being able to drive and want to just go against my families wishes on this matter.
