Re: [epilepsy] Alternative Medication for Seizures

It is always wise to let your Dr. know what you wish to do and he/she can then let you know if any problems
may exist. Take into consideration though that not all Dr. are up on supplementing with your meds as they do
not usually take much about them during their schooling. If you get a no it may be ok to get a second opinion
just to be sure. I was lucky and both my family doc and Neurologist insisted I take them.
I took very little at first and when they saw the changes in me that was like night and day, they insisted I
went the whole way and even suggested more. Bring the information you have and the ingredients with you to
your doctor and this will help him with your decision. It won't necessarily be the brand but the ingredients
and the balance of them that helps them decide.

hello, frist of all, your not on small doses, and i WOULD NEVER TRY ANYTHING NEW WITHOUT YOUR DR. OK. i know,
i did. i was taking that acai berrie supplement for colon clense and wieght loss, i nearly died because of my
meds and the (herbal supplement) not reacting well.
i know it is a pain, but if your seizures are being controlled, i'd stay with the meds and with the Doc.
sounds like you have a good one.

Hello Group:

This is my first post so I would really appreciate some fedback. I take relatively small doses of four kinds
of seizure meds 300 mg of lamictal, 500 mg of depakote, 1.5 mg of clonazapam and 64 mg of phenobarb. My
seizures are almost completely controlled.

Family members and friends always suggest herbal remedies to me in general terms e.g...."..you should look
into alternative medicine" no specifics. ever. Anyway, I have researched this and found that there are no
herbal remedies/alternate medicine that can replace traditional meds. I know that they can supplement them but
has anybody heard of any alternative medicines that can replace traditional meds entirely.

Thanks in advance,

Marco

p.s. I find this grooup extremely helpful.
