Can’t blame you for being curious. How long has it been since your last seizure until that one? Were you due for one? Could it just have been coincidence? Probably not but My child’s seizures occur in patterns we now anticipate is what I mean. Anything out of pattern we try to figure what may have triggered it / them. Drug companies don’t put warnings out for no reason!

Subject: [epilepsy] Seizures and steroids
About six weeks ago I threw out my back at work (not literally, but I sure wanted to then). When I went to Convenient Care to get it checked out, the doctor there prescribed methylprednisolone (a steroid) for inflammation. It was a six day pack, and four days in I had a seizure. Mom and I were on the way home from a family function (she was driving), and I fell asleep and had the seizure in the car. When we got home, she looked on the paper that the drugstore printed when they filled the scrip. It said to be extra careful when taking it if you were taking AEDs.
I had already had my yearly appointment with my epileptologist scheduled, so when I got to the hospital I asked the doc about it. She said there was no correlation between steroids and seizures. She even pulled up some articles to support her statement. Even so, I still think that medication had something to do with the seizure. Any thoughts?
