Thank you for this post... I could add that cabbage can also be eaten in the form of raw fermented sauerkraut, which has marvelous probiotics.
I have had problems with slow thyroid, and I was told that I should avoid raw cabbage, as well as raw broccoli. Cooked cabbage and broccoli are fine. I don't worry about eating small amounts of raw cabbage once in a while, but I don't eat it raw hardly ever. I do eat raw sauerkraut fairly often, I have an idea it doesn't count as far as the slow thyroid, I think the fermenting makes it different. but I can't say for sure.
People who have fast thyroids would benefit from raw cabbage and broccoli.
And anyone without a thyroid problem shouldn't worry either way.
Of course, avoiding refined sugars is much more important for thyroid health than avoiding any raw vegetable!
Just my 2 cents.

Pieces can be a substitute for bread as crunchy low carb to spread stuff on and if the winter chill finds you eating some chili, use raw cabbage crunchy pieces, instead of crackers. Boiled cabbage doesn't smell so great but you could butter it up for a filling addition to your meal.
