The other thing I'd point out is that your apple juice and liquid vitamins in the morning - those are throwing off your body's fat burning mechanism (which is the whole point of fast 5), and without being a doctor I would still put money on it that they are helping your body continue to crave sugar. Go back and re-read the book. On the days when you're having juice / liquid vitamins, in my opinion you're not really going to get a lot of the benefits of fasting. Being that it's a once-a-day thing (and not a bad thing at all!), I don't see why you wouldn't just move that over and make it your normal way of breaking your fast. Just my two cents. I'd love to see you get where you want to be, Wallie. I was well over 400 pounds ten years ago; I'm around 220 now with muscle (I'm 6'4" and probably have 15-20 pounds of excess fat -- I never thought I'd come this far), and I'm a binge eater. I know both sides of the fence and I know exactly how the way I view myself is validated as either the smiling guy who transformed himself, and as the helpful jolly big guy with insecurity issues, pain, and panic attacks. If you can change the way you view yourself, you will change along with the increasing level of self-value. Fast5 is a really helpful tool, but one of the reasons it's not for everyone is because there are some folks that think their weight is the answer to their suffering when it's just a symptom. I would be a rehabilitating person in that category. :-) Phil

I would try making your own chocolate like the other person suggested. (I'd probably not use honey though even....i'd cut out the sugar entirely and use stevia or whatever else suits your fancy there to sweeten but does not have the negative affects of sugar)
It seems like your situation really is calling for something satisfying like this.
Also, what about upping your fat while taking out sugar?
Several on here, including me, can tell you more about that..... The fat keeps you more satisfied and , for many, is enough to jump start weight loss and keep it going. However, if you do go that route, it would need to be a lower carb route in order to get you where you are trying to get.....

Thank you, Susie. If I could get to the point where "berries" (with anything on it) would suffice as a dessert, that would be great.
I'm a hard core chocoholic and a quantity eater.
I try to keep my 5 hour window between 9 and 2. I have an optional 1/2 cup of apple juice (if I can remember) in the morning with liquid vitamins mixed in and then one big meal at lunch. Even with desserts, this has kept my weight down to a "normal" looking range, but definitely not to weight I "want" to be. I use the word "want" loosely, because if I truly wanted to be there, I assume I would be.
I have no peace of mind at the moment. I keep searching for answers, anything that will help.
Sincerely,
Wallie

I have eaten desserts and lost weight, although I'm a relative rookie when it comes to officially doing FF. I have lost 7 pounds in 4 weeks doing FF. I will say that I think eating *too much* sugar during my window makes me a little hungrier the following day, so I try not to do it every day. I'm able to self-moderate now, and if my appetite seems to increase, I know I've overdone it on the sweets. > > I usually have dessert on the weekends, and not during the week, though this is not a hard and fast rule. Sometimes, for dessert on the weekdays, I will have a bowl of fresh berries, sometimes with some creme freche and a sprinkling of brown sugar. I'm trying not to have hard and fast rules about anything, because I like the freedom I get from FF, and I want to focus my time and energy on other areas of my life, like enjoying a walk at the lake or spending time with friends. > > Also, when I was instinctively eating this way, i.e. skipping meals because I wasn't hungry (I was also naturally slim then), I sometimes had dessert or sweets, so I figure that my body can tolerate dessert sometimes, and it is normal for me. > > The huge benefit to me of doing FF is that my appetite is normal again, and the cravings have disappeared. So I find I don't want dessert as often as I did when I was eating more often. The berries seem like a wonderful treat, whereas when I was eating constantly, it would not have been enough of a dessert. > > Hope that helps! > > Susie > > > --- In fast5@yahoogroups. com <mailto:fast5% 40yahoogroups. com> , "wallieg26" <wallieg26@> wrote: > > > > I'm a dessert addict.
