Re: [Prince-4ever] Prince & Music of The Day ...

Sananda's name given at birth was Terrence Trent D'arby, Asante. I forget when he changed it, though.

What the Dickens?

More like WHAT the Hell?
That was his REAL name?
AND he used Terrence Trent WHAT as a stage name?
Go figure!
Thanks for dropping the knowledge...
I guess imitation is the highest form of flattery.
He came to mind when I was thinking of Prince wannabees.
Thanks again...learn something new everyday.
I am going to practice saying his name...without spitting that is.
LOL!!

You mean Sananda Francesco Maitreya, Christine? Formerly knows as TTD He's still making music and being innovative. He's not with a major label anymore so you won't hear radio talking about him, if you listen to public radio. I don't, I listen to SIRIUS XM when I do. He's cool, I like him (Sanada, that is).

I got to drop Clapton's name in the mix too. But you see I am comparing him to folks who have stood the sands of time. Hendrix, Clapton, King just echo throughout time. Prince never imitated any of them..he just translated into his own language. Too many copycats to shake a stick at!! Can we say Terrence Trent D'arby?

U are SO dead on it, Christine! How in the hell did I 4get Jimi? He's
like right up there as my BIGGEST musical influences EVER! I call him
the Michael Jordan of guitar. And 2 hear the genius throwdown on "All
Along The Watchtower" (A cover tune of another legend, Bob Dylan) based
on Hendrix's version, I almost cried. Yes I did. P did such a remarkable
job on that. Prince is truly in my top 5 as THE greatest guitarist of
ALL-TIME!!! [:D]
