I love a good rich cup of coffee with real cream and brown sugar. But unfortunately I was having severe... uhh...lower intestinal itching... and after much trial and error narrowed it down to coffee. :(
I do have a couple of suggestions for those of you who are fortunate enough to be able to drink coffee.
1) All coffees are not created equal. Gevalia is one brand that actually tastes sweet without cream and sugar. Dunkin' Donuts is OK for an inexpensive roast. Experiment with different brands. You'll be surprised at the difference. BTW, Starbuck's is NOT a good coffee. :) The coffee bean is sweet before it's roasted. Most beans are over roasted which gives them a bitter flavor. Find one that is lightly roasted.
2) The Italians like a wedge of lemon in their coffee. This is the method I used when acclimating to Fast-5 initially. Just one wedge squeezed into your coffee or espresso will change the flavor just enough to make it fun and interesting. This may be an acquired taste, but it can help with the transition.
3) Experiment with different teas. Oolong is good, Japanese Sencha and Genmaicha are good. I really like Cinnamon Apple Spice herbal tea. Find one that you like better than coffee. There are TONS of teas to try.
