> I have been taking dilantin for 30 yrs. My last grand mal was 7 years ago, and have occasional complex partial seizures, ( maybe 1 a year), and auras once in a while. My dr says that he's concerned about the long term effects of dilantin. I'm happy with dilantin, have had no major side effects. What have others experienced with long term dilantin use, and how has changing meds been? Thanks for any help.

I wonder if vitamins like sublingual B12's and calcium from milk can counteract some of those side effects.
I have met a 94 year old who was on Dilantin ever since an injury in WW II. He was very healthy and died when after walking to the store, he stepped out on the street and was hit by a car.
