Re: [fast5] Re: Desserts

I have been buying No Pudge Brownies.  These things are AWSOME - they are made with yogurt and don't have the hunger drivers in them I tend to have trouble with in other things.  (They DO have sugar - but no HFCS at least)

What has helped is that when I crave something, I think about what it
is I am REALLY craving. With chocolate, I tried adding some cocoa
powder ... which is pure chocolate, no fat, no sugar ... to something
else that was pretty benign. It was satisfying. More satisfying than,
say, a Hershey bar, which really doesn't have all that much pure
chocolate in it. So now when I do crave chocolate, I make my own
"cocoa" which is pure chocolate powder heated with a little honey and
some coconut milk and water (I don't do dairy). Also I add cardamom,
vanilla, and a pinch of salt. Super good stuff, very satisfying, but
not even bad for you.

Even with desserts, this has kept my weight down to a "normal" looking range, but definitely not to weight I "want" to be. I use the word "want" loosely, because if I truly wanted to be there, I assume I would be.

>>
>> Also, when I was instinctively eating this way, i.e. skipping meals because I wasn't hungry (I was also naturally slim then), I sometimes had dessert or sweets, so I figure that my body can tolerate dessert sometimes, and it is normal for me.

>> The huge benefit to me of doing FF is that my appetite is normal again, and the cravings have disappeared. So I find I don't want dessert as often as I did when I was eating more often.  The berries seem like a wonderful treat, whereas when I was eating constantly, it would not have been enough of a dessert.
