I know nothing about Medicare per se, but they may automatically substitute generics or make you jump through hoops in order to get brand name Depakote. I had to do this for Megan on other drugs, but Megan's HIRSP didn't put her on generic depakote because she's on some extended release version of Depakote......

Talk to your doctor. They are in the best position to help you get the particular medication that is best for you.
