Re: [epilepsy] Generic Keprra,

I have been paying the higher copay for years so I didn't have to change to the generic that my insurance wanted me to switch to. I take generic Dilantin and name brand Keppra since I was diagnosed and they have controlled my grand mal and absence seizures. I hate to switch to generic Keppra because I had status epilepticus and almost died when my seizures were diagnosed. My seizures didn't stop in the ER until they gave me Keppra after they had already given me Dilantin and the other emergency drug (can't think of what it is called).

So now I will not only have to change my meds but I have no health insurance in case the Keppra doesn't work and end up having seizures.

Is the state insurance commissioner someone who deals with private insurance companies or with state insurance plans such as ICHIP?

I also recommend tht anyone dealing with disability have ur doc. wrie to ur state prior approval board. They then will have to pay for it if u can't take a generic med. I Had he troubles with generic Depekene which was Valproic Acid. I got severe problems and nearly died when a pharmacist changed it .
