Prince pledge ahead of Irish gig
The musician pulled out of a one-off show in Dublin's Croke Park three years ago only to end up hit with a high-profile lawsuit from the show's backers.
Prince will play to 35,000 fans in an open-air concert at Malahide Castle on Saturday 30 July.
The Dublin date is part of a European tour which also includes performances in Paris on 30 June, Kent, England on 3 July and the North Sea Jazz Festival in Holland on 8 July.
A spokeswoman for promoters POD and ICO Concerts assured fans Prince was committed to the Irish leg of the tour.
"This is part of an overall tour - it's not a one-off gig," she said.
Last December Prince kicked off his first tour in the US since 2004 and set the scene for fans by telling them to "bring your friends, bring your children and bring foot spray, because it's going to be funky".
His setlists have included pop classics and some of his greatest hits like Purple Rain , Raspberry Beret, 1999, Kiss and the song made more famous by Sinead O'Connor, Nothing Compares to You.
Prince had been scheduled to play Croke Park in June 2008 but cancelled just 13 days before the show, angering promoter MCD and more than 55,000 fans who bought tickets.
The Minneapolis star did not publicly explain why he pulled out.
As the row with MCD's Denis Desmond deepened, Prince was said to have told his agent - "tell that cat to chill".
The two million euro lawsuit was settled in a Dublin court, with Mr Desmond quick to hit back at the pop star, saying: "This cat is chilled."
Seating and standing tickets for the show go on sale this Friday at 9am from 89.50 euro.
