Doris,
I had my right temporal surgery a bit over 2 years ago. I definitly
have had changes in my short term memory. I find that I use
significantly more notes, lists, and reminders to get through a day. My
husband is a big help with this. I might even forget I wrote things
down sometimes =) My short term memory issues are obviously worsened by
being on AED's still, though I finally went off one of them a couple of
months ago. THis is one of the reasons I know I would struggle to work,
leatnign a new job and being reliable would be issues for me.
Some of the things I do to help are:
-play memory games to help strengthen and keep the memory I do have,
things like Simon (the old colored light game)
-I keep a stack of index cards in a couple of different places in my
house to be able to quickly write things down I need to remember
-I have a very regular routine and on certain days I do certain things
so nothing gets forgotten.
-I have even sent myself emails before.
-Things that are really important I be sure to tell my husband so he
will remember, or can remind me I wrote it down
All in all whatever you can do to compensate just resign yourself to the
fact that you have to.

It is apprehensive since it makes me wonder how much worse is this going to get and is there anything I can do to change this. Your experience or opinion would be meaningful. Thanks.
