Jennie...you have one well trained dog there. Mine is just a German Shepherd/Border Collie (pure-bred both
sides). The German shepherd in him makes him protective and the shepherd calms him down...but he sure looks
after me. Not to be able to tell the seizures apart though.
We got him as a baby so has grown up with us for the most part except with the kids now and then. He therefore
has never been trained. Just what he sees and knows if it is right or not.
During the night should we all be sick and bed ridden he is like an old mother hen and goes from one side to
the other checking out everyone for a bit then on to the next.
You must of had yours trained by a trainer?

My dog can tell epileptic seizures. The only way I can tell that mine are NOT epileptic is when he does NOT

Jennie ... if you are asking me this question, it is something you really can't explain. Possibly Trish can
give us some pointers when we know it is going to be a non-epilepsy one.

Have you ever in your life had the real kind though? Most people that have the
non-epilepsy ones have the
real ones too. Know I do. I have the real ones for sure, but there are times
when am sure they are the
non-epilepsy ones.
Our daughter had bouts of the non-epilepsy ones and they looked like the real
ones. Seeing she was already on
the real meds the Dr. taking the VEEG put her on a placebo type med. for
starters.

I found out that i have them.At first i couldn't understand why i had those
but after working with my epi. psychologist i am now able to talk myself out of
them.I was also showed how my epileptic ones were different so now I have been
seizure free for almost a yr, My doc even took me off 2 of my meds i still take
carbatrol though.She says I may get a drivers license now if i want to.

Has anyone with uncontrollable epilepsy found they have PNES(Psychogenic
Non-Epileptic Seizures).These seizures do not respond to anti epilepsy
drugs(AED).Epilepsy seizures come on because of electrical activity.If you have
a non-epileptic seizure during a video EEG and it's not on the EEG but looked
like a seizure to nurses.It was probably PNES.A few people with real epilepsy
also have some PNES.
