You can do a simple at home thyroid check, put a quarter size circle of Iodine (in the pharmacy) on your abdomen at night, it should still be there in the morning if not then have your thyroid checked. I did this 3 years ago after reading it in a magazine, my doctors didn’t know what was wrong my levels said everything was fine but after the iodine test I asked for an ultrasound. Sadly, very long story short… I had an aggressive form of thyroid cancer. It took a few years but I’m finally feeling like myself again.

Karen, as you know, I'm no doctor so take this with a grain of salt and an air of urban legend. :) But...
1) Have you had your thyroid checked? Make sure you're getting enough iodine. I switched to sea salt a couple of years ago and ever since, I just haven't felt "in the zone". Two weeks ago, I went back to iodized salt and have been eating an algae or seaweed sheet every day and the difference is striking! Time will tell if it's the iodine increase, placebo, or coincidence, but I would get your Dr to check your thyroid the next time you go in. And if you use sea salt, make sure it's iodized.
2) Please tell me you're not drinking diet soda. Nutrasweet made me miserable. As soon as I went off of it, I felt great.
3) Vitamin D levels during the winter are crucial!! Make sure your jaw is firmly fastened to your skull and then do a web search of the importance of Vitamin D and sunlight. Your jaw may hit the floor at how important this nutrient is for mood and immune function and how low the RDA actually is. Here's an article on muscle weakness and vitamin D: http://www.ncbi.
You'll notice that most bodybuilding ads or articles talk about "optimum" glucose uptake by eating directly after a workout. You body actually in reality does quite well without eating. We have evolved over many millenia to a point where if we don't catch our dinner the first time, the body adapts and makes itself stronger for tomorrow's hunt/chase. Say you chase a chicken or a duck or a pig and you miss it. Your legs are tired and you still have no food. It's late and you have to get back. There are processes that make you more energetic and more alert if you haven't eaten. Dr Herring mentions this switching between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems in the Fast-5 book. So you missed the prey and you're hungry. Chances are tomorrow you'll be a little faster and a little sharper. Nature takes care of it. Eating directly after a workout is marketing hype to sell gels and drinks. While it does provide OPTIMUM glucose availability to replenish muscle fuel, most of us don't train hard enough to require that extra glucose availability and won't notice the difference. If you do, then you're either a professional athlete or you're over training and digging yourself a hole that you can't get out of. I do like how you've shortened your workouts down to 30 minutes. Long workouts tend to exhaust muscle glycogen and blood sugar rather than burn fat. If you keep your workouts down to reasonable durations with high intensities and keep your heart rate below 75% max you'll burn more fat and not need as much sugar. This will also help to better lower your blood sugar levels.
I could go on and on about training and diet, but I fear it would be off topic for this list. And not knowing how you eat and exercise I would only be guessing. But the three things that I listed above are sadly very common. Feel free to contact me off list if you'd like. You might like to contact Laree Draper Dave Draper's wife). She's AWESOME at these problems and loves answering e-mail. :)
