Re: [epilepsy] foods and seizure disorders

 

First off, not everyone has to avoid all of those foods. Don't put yourself throught unnecessary torture if you don't have to. Journal your food and look for any patterns. Do you actually experience more szs when you eat thngs like gluten, dairy, MSG, or caffeine? If not, don't worry about it. (For the record, I have been gluten free--not due to szs--for about a year and a half. It's not as hard as it sounds. :) )
 
Second, what about things like weather? Additional meds? Disrupted sleep patterns? Additional stress? These can all result in increased sz actitivity for many of us.

I have read soooo many different ideas as to what to eat or aviod. But the ones I see most are
Avoid MSG,aspartate, glutamine, gluter grain(wheat, barley and rye),fruits or anything that could cause blood sugar sharp flucation.
I also see lots of information on vit. minerals I remember that VIT. D is an important one (not that others aren't)
I understand the reasoning for most of this but I don't know what is left to eat cardboard?? Trigger points are as different from person to person as seizures are different. Seems that lately I feel kinda sick with increase light sensitivity. I always sleep after a seizure for hours now I think I am having more seizure activity during sleep as well. What type of life style/ diets or otherwise have you all made or tried???
