I just had some blood tests done. I follow a mostly Weston Price diet
(with almost no grains or milk). I am 38 years old. My ND said my diet
was amazing... everything looked phenomenal. Yay!
But... because I've been nursing or pregnant for the last 5 years, and
not taking any vitamins, I'm alarmingly low on:
-folic acid
-T3 (thyroid... which iodine and selenium would help)
-vitamin D
-testosterone
She said I need to take some supplements.
I just read 'Breakthrough Medicine' and 'Ageless' by Suzanne Somers.
From her many interviews, I gathered that I want to be taking a
supplement with
- folic acid 800 - 1000 mcg
- vit d3 - 2000 IU's
- selenium - 200 mcg
- chromium - 1000 mcg
- magnesium - 400 - 800 mg
- zinc - 30 mg
Curcumin, rhodiola, and iodine would be good, too...
I found a supplement on Life Extension's website (www.lef.com)
subsequently read on another website about magnesium stearate, and how
it is a hydrogenated oil added to make the vitamin powders not stick to
the machines, and inhibits absorbency. Sigh. Supposedly the only
vitamins that don't have magnesium stearate have to be procured through
a prescription. I can ask my ND to do this... but... is it really
necessary?
Anyway, would love to know any thoughts, ideas, etc. from this amazing
group.
Thank you!
