[fast5] fast5 is calorie cutting? Re: (Rick - muscles, protein) and Karen

Hi Karen-

Yeah, 18 times BW seems awfully high. I've heard 10xBW if you're trying to lose weight in the traditional weight loss programs. But that's where Fast-5 is different because the Fast-5 diet is designed around calorie restriction. It's a plan designed to increase lifespan, provide good health, and to reset your appestat so you don't WANT to eat much. So you need to find the amount of calories that causes you to maintain your current weight and then reduce it by 25-40%. Take that number and (in your case 1060) eat fats and proteins to get your calories and I'll bet you'll do well. I mentioned cream in your coffee as an example as most folks add small amounts of calories throughout the day that add up to substantial daily additional calories. One of my favorite taboos is to slice off a pat of butter and eat it like cheese, so yeah, I have no problem with drinking cream. :) Except now that I'm on my Paleo kick, I'd have to wrastle a wild cow down, steal a bunch of milk, find a culture and some salt, build a bucket, and make my cheese or butter. Seems like an awful lot of work. Hmm, maybe a goat would be easier, but I think it's just easier to eat the goat. :)
