[epilepsy] Re: Hi New Member

Hi John,

Welcome to the group! You are among friends here, believe me! Ask us the million and one questions you have!!! Hey, don't hold back from saying or asking anything!

My first seizure was a grand mal when I was 15 months old, while I had a high fever. I didn't have another seizure till I was just out of high school back in 1975. Since then my seizures stayed with me. I had mostly complex partial seizures.

There are many parents in the group who are in your shoes, you will notice responses to your post in the coming days. You will quickly realize how much support you have here!!!

You mentioned he is on Keppra. I've been on Keppra since it first came to the market maybe 6 or 8 years ago? I'm also on Trileptal.

My seizures just couldn't get under control all these years. 3 1/3 years ago I had a left temporal lobectomy surgery to try and stop my seizures. So far its worked and have been seizure free since.

All these years I've been very active in sports, have been at the same job for 22 1/2 years now!

Why not take a look at these web sites in learning more about epilepsy. Look at my.epilepsy.com and efa.org Its a start in learning about epilepsy. Keep in touch with us, keep us all up to date on how things are going. Again, welcome to the group. Take care, keep a smile on your face!

Steve

The original diagnosis was atypical febrile seizures since his came with no temperature and his first seizure came in a cluster of 5 grand mals over a days time. A month later he had 18 in a 3 days period and was put in the PICU of our local hospital - 6 long days!.
