[epilepsy] Re: foods and seizure disorders

MSG and Aspartame [some brand names: NutraSweet; Equal;Spoonful, Equal-Measure] are what is called "excitotoxins" - they excite your brain and as your brain is already so excited that it is causing seizures , it is not logical do make it more so. You can avoid them be eating oganic food - many many people do this. These chemicals alo cause many diseases and disorders so they are bad for everybody whom is interested in good health and staying alive. You need to avoid all chemicals. We are humans which are animals/mammals - animals do not do well on chemicals. They are toxic to animals and must be detoxed threw the liver and kidneys - this puts a lot of stress on the liver and kidneys. You are already taking drugs which tax the liver and kidneys.....

It is difficult at first to not have all those processed foods - they are familiar and so comforting too. But you will also find that 'real' food actually tastes better too. I had forgotten what chicken tastes like for example - the first time I cooked a roast chicken I also made gravy and cranberries for it. But I did not use them in the end, as the chicken tasted so good by itself that they would have ruined it. I used to cover chicken with gravy and cranberries as well as potatoes etc. Not having all those pesticides, herbacides, and other chemicals on them seems to make a huge difference. I now enjoy eating & even preparting meals. It is worth the time.
Now if I want to impress somebody or make a special meal for a special occasion and I want it to be memorable, I have organic roast chicken and organic steamed green beens and organic sweet potatoes or squash. I have never liked green beans regardless how they were cooked; they were tasteless - but organic green beans are great.

I am allergic to wheat and corn. It is a pain in the neck. But I have learned about and tried other grains that I never would have tried before such as spelt [this is one of my favorites now], buckwheat [this I find very filling], millet, teff, and quinoa, and amaranth. Be warned that quinoa is filling -half a piece of bread made from this I find more filling then 1 & 1/2 slices of wholewheat bread. Quinoa and amaranth have proteins also not just carbohydrates. And you will like sourdough bread and it is actually easy to make.

Light sensitiviy is a symptom of magnesium deficiency also . You can correct that. Magnesium plays a significant role in regulation of blood sugars and regulation of body temperature - diabetes 2 is often controlled with magnesium. Excessive thirst and frequent urination are also symptoms of magnesium deficiency. People with diabetes 2 are magnesium deficient and need to get their magnesium levels up so they can control their blood sugar.

Seems that lately I feel kinda sick with increase light sensitivity. I always sleep after a seizure for hours now I think I am having more seizure activity during sleep as well. What type of life style/ diets or otherwise have you all made or tried???
