Re: [epilepsy] Folic Acid & Seizures???

My experience with folic Acid was not as a Seizure control but to support the Dilantin when I was on it.  Dilantin evidently depletes ones follic acid levels and they need to be compensated for.  Now that I'm on Tegretal, I no longer take folic Acid however I take Calcium because Tegregal has a similar effect on ones calcium levels.   I have only experienced these two meds and their side effects but understand others may require different supplements because of the way they effect your body's balance.

I'm not sure if your doctor said Folic Acid was a seizure med but I look it up on the internet and it linked the same connection with Dilantin as I have explained.  Best of luck.

Any one here had any experience using folic acid to treat/prevent seizures? What dosage? Of course,we would consult with Dani's neuro before starting it.

I know there are negative sides of folic acid including a suspected relationship between increase of folic acid and colon cancer.

Just wondering !!
