Re: [fast5] Re: Rick's meal choices

You are fortunate! Homegrown chickens absolutely make the best eggs.

One thing about chickens too ... they are great garbage disposals/composters. Mine get a lot of kitchen scraps, from my family and another. They are omnivores and eat about anything, and compost the rest into great manure. Some local people are collecting scraps from local restaurants too, to feed their chickens.

Think about this: 3/4 of the food grown in the US is just thrown out, mostly going to landfills. That would feed a whole lot of chickens!

hello, i found what you wrote about eggs very interesting. i never liked eggs much until i was told not to eat more than a couple a week. after that i started eating them all the time! lol

one of the things i like about eggs being a large part of my diet is that i buy them from a young lady who lives just outside of town and raises happy healthy chickens the natural way. after all i've read about our food sources (inhumane treatment, hormones, antibiotics, etc) i am trying to eat natural organic foods. good free range eggs are one of the easiest and least expensive switches i have made.
