As an epileptic who had left temporal surgery about 14 years ago, I would like to talk about an after effect. My seizures which were during the day completely stopped. Nocturnal seizures begsn and these occur usually twice a month and they are granmal. I never stopped taking drugs, and I am on 400mg Lamictal daily.
A big concern is the post surgery memory difficulty I have experienced. I can remember a lot from childhood days, but I have super difficulty with current things. Things like a name of someone I meet since surgery just goes away and other things too. I had many different things in adult years that I cannot remember at all. I know that I have traveled internationally three times, but I do not know a thing about that. Sometimes I go from one room to the other and by the time I get there I forget why I went there. It often helps going back to the first room and thinking or seeing some reason that would make me go to other room.
I terrifically fear what is next. I wonder if I should talk to a
neurologist or a psychiatrist about this. I presently just go to local medical doctor for necessary refills. I wonder if others especially after brain surgery experience something similar. I fear the thoughts of weather this is going to get progressively worst and what is next. If at all you can relate to this or understand it, would you please share. Thanks for your time to read this.
