My father who has had Grand Mal since 10ys old had the vns placed in 2005. He still is having seizures and still needs meds and is always having to have them adjusted. So really it is not guarantee that it will help some people have no problems and can have the meds reduced to nothing. Others it is as the doctor tells us he would be having more episodes if it had not been placed but there is no knowing of that either for sure. So really everyone is different on the outcome.

Subject: [epilepsy] VNS - vagus nerve stimulation
Hi, my name is Libety. I have been a member here for over 2yrs and read daily. I have a couple questions for any of you. My seizures have not been controlled for over 8yrs. I've been on ALL the medications, had my front right temprol lobe removed. The Dr.'s are wanting to start trying meds again. I'm married and have two kids (11 & 8). Has anyone had a VNS put in or know of someone who has? What type of results are you having? Thank You for all your answers and opinions.
