Re: [epilepsy] FW: [Autism, Epilepsy and Brain Wellness] Hate to talk Politics but this new Obamacare...

I am very happy that the healthcare reform was upheld. There is so much misinformation out there. I have heard so many people say they are against "Obamacare", when in reality, they will be better off with it being upheld.

I currently do not have health insurance. I have been turned down by health insurance companies because of pre-existing conditions. I have not been given enough hours by my employer to qualify for benefits, even though I constantly ask to work more hours. I have been unable to find a full time job, even though I have worked my entire life. I am approved to purchase health insurance through ICHIP (Illinois Comprehensive Health Insurance Plan), however, I am unable to afford it.

I hope that members of this group become more informed about issues that are so important to us including healthcare, discrimination, etc. Sometimes it seems as though people who should be the biggest advocates for epilepsy, are misinformed and taking a stand against laws that are to our benefit and have taken many years to be put into effect.

Thank you Elizabeth, for the information that you have provided.

There are a lot of other pieces to the law as well. If you want more information, the Kaiser Family Foundation is a wealth of knowledge: www.kff.org .
