[epilepsy] Re: Does this sound like epilepsy???

Great advise Kate, thank you so much even though it wasn't directed at me :) We are going thru a tough time with my daughters episodes and its amazing how much encouragement one can get from here.

Thanks, Jamie

I was living in Bulgaria where I first diagnosed, but when I moved to the states, the doctors here wouldn't use his diagnosis. In Bulgaria I had EEGs- sleep deprived, 24 hour, etc, EKGs, MRIs and CAT scans, but the Americans re-did them all. I was living in Pittsburgh, with world class medical hospitals, seeing a neurologist and she couldn't see the epilepsy on the Bulgarian tests or redone American ones. I didn't question it, I just figured the American doctors were better trained and had better resources (the Bulgarian MRI machine was the only 1 in the country, not bolted to floor and they didn't give earplugs). My husband took a new job, we moved again. I had more seizures and got a new American neurologist. I gave her the Bulgarian reports and she took one look and could see the abnormality. She ordered new tests, those tests were 5 years old by then and she put me on Keppra. I haven't had a seizure since.
