Prince will make his second-ever Winnipeg appearance when he plays the MTS Centre on Dec. 8 as part of his coast-to-coast Welcome 2 Canada tour. Ticket prices haven't been announced, but will go on sale Nov. 4. The Winnipeg date is part of an 11-show, 10-city tour running from Nov. 25 to Dec. 17. It will be Prince's first time here since June 6, 2002, when he played the Walker Theatre (now the Burton Cummings Theatre) followed by an appearance at St. Boniface social hall, Le Rendez-Vous, which has since been torn down. The Welcome 2 Canada tour follows on the heels of Prince's Welcome 2 America tour, which ran from December 2010 to this past May. He spent the summer touring Europe. His forthcoming Canadian tour will feature his band, the New Power Generation. He has been performing a different set list filled with hits nightly during his last two tours. Prince has released more than 30 albums of rock, funk, soul and R&B since 1978. His last album, 20Ten, was released for free in various newspapers and magazines in Europe.
