Re: [epilepsy] Re: landlord discrimination UPDATE

Never stopped me, was married, but I was more interested in making money than family, we have a daughter. Wife left left, really do not blame her for doing it looking back now. If you are in physio then you will eventually walk again unlike myself. If she really cared for you she would have stayed, I do not think accident had that much to do with her leaving, it was just a marriage that was not meant to be.

I only wish I could sue my girlfriend! I started out with just Epilepsy but tried to overpower it with my "abilities" and particularly my talents appearing on stage. I had Brain Surgery in 2003 which stopped the seizures and enabled me to get a driver's license, but then 7 years later, out of the blue, a seizure while driving put me in a wheelchair with doctors saying I'm very very lucky to be alive.

Apparently my vehicle went through a red light and I got hit on the driver's side by a huge cement truck. The're no air-bag in the door, which crushed into my left side, smashing my left leg and hip, with severe damage to my upper half as well. But with a back brace off and my arms working again, all that's wrong is I'm in a wheelchair with no control of my left leg from the knee down. It's like wet spaghetti, so I can't put my weight on it. Suddenly my stage career came to an end as I'm in Physio with a leg brace slowly learning to walk again.

But here's the real kicker... Back at Christmas, I proposed to my girlfriend and she accepted in front of my parents and hers. The wedding was planned for August but when I got put in the hospital (Jan-May), she went and found someone else. Then her reasoning... What could we possibly do together now that I'm in a wheelchair?

Now I'm out in a condo downtown and starting over. There's always a bit of desire for a woman in me, but who would want a guy in a wheelchair? And before you ladies say there must be someone out there, ask yourselves... would you be willing to be in a relationship with a guy who can't walk places with you, and can't drive you places?

Big change in life.

And I thought living with Epilepsy was hard enough!
