Thanks Pat.  I feel better now that I know I'm not alone and that it isn't a symptom of just plain "crazy!"

Tristin, you are not alone! My 7 year old has been doing it for years! If
its calming, count away. Our daughter can not tells us why however she is
high functioning Autistic also. You can find some info on it there.

This may sound weird, but does anyone else catch themselves counting things
for no reason (road signs, cars, syllables, straight lines, shapes, etc)?
I've been doing this for many years and it's gotten worse since my surgery.
Is this some form of OCD or maybe just a way to calm the mind and deal with
anxiety? Is it self stimulation? I'm not too worried about it because it
doesn't hinder my quality of life.
