Journey is the best way 2 describe this purple party mix I have been on. I remember seeing a album jacket and wondering why this naked man was riding a horse with wings??!! I was 7 years old and been hooked ever since. I can recall most of the experiences related to Prince being positive but I took alot of sh*t from people I went to school with about loving Prince the way I did. I got called gay and f*g all thru school but I usually had the prettiest girlfriend in school!! I can recall my first Prince concert on my 11th bday in Toledo Ohio and wondering why was this man dry humping a bed??!! But I was hooked!! I didn't care what people thought of him or what they thought of me for loving Prince!! I finally got the chance of a lifetime and made the most of it!! I met the man !!! October 9,1999 at the Fountain Bleu Hotel on south beach, I got on a small stage in a ballroom and danced standing next to P !! I did all the old dances I could remember like the smurf, the cadillac, the prep, the wop , U know LOL I was a monster, he finally asked me what was my deal? I told him I been loving you since 79 and this is just how I am. He asked me if I had anymore energy and I said I can go all night!! I remember him smiling real big and he leaned into me and asked what songs do I know?? He wanted me 2 sing the chorus with him!!! I laughed and said" play somethin' P... I got U"!!! Arm in arm with my Idol singing I could never take the place of ur man was the highlight of my Purple Journey!!! I worked radio at the time and told P we would spin "the greatest romance" every hour on the hour and we did for 2 weeks!!! I just wanted a picture from Parke or a copy of the video ( u know P records EVERY performance) but of course, that never happened but I still love him. I thought the more mature Prince was refreshing at first, I mean no more cuss words and extreme carrying on but it was still P but when he pushes his beliefs onto his bread and butter (fans) it isn't so much fun anymore. I never understand why he doesn't seize the opportunities that sometime present themselves like the 25th anniversary of Purple Rain and he does nothing. Last time I checked all of the revolution was still alive and can still play... Wouldn't that tour be the sh*t??!! I can't wait to see him again in concert but I won't be so quick 2 join a music club again! LOL. The last 4 albums were hit and miss but I just listen to what I like on them and keep it moving. He is still clearly the G.O.A.T. by far!!! Even on his bad days. My diatribe is done. Thanks for listening. Peace and Love JP.. p.s. hello Timmy!! Eat some Gino's pizza for me friend!

How many notes can U squeeze of of an instrument or melodies can U pull out the air b4 U start repeating yourself? Examples being 1+1+1=3 is pretty much Erotic City,No More Candy 4 U is Ronnie Talk 2 Russia, The Word is Sign O the Times, and on & on & on lol... which isn't a bad thing per se. He broke ground & did things musically that is being emulated 2day (see Justin Timberlake, the Dream, even Diddy, and  R.Kelly) . I think he raised the bar so high with albums like Sign O the Times, Parade, Dirty Mind, etc that its a blessing & a curse. Everything he has released since then or will release always has the stigma "well its ok, but not as good as..." and that's not fair, but at the same time he's the one who put that bar so high! Now,I'm not sure how I feel about comments suggesting his religion is a hinderence 2 his art. I can agree with that,as well as disagree. Can U imagine a 51 year old man writing or singing Sister, Head, or Erotic City? Or still claiming 2 be the Rude Boy? He'd be a 51 year old parody of himself. But trying 2 force your fans in2 your belief system is wrong. I have a bootleg cd/dvd from Berlin 2002 where some1 is holding up a sign letting Prince know that it was their birthday. He stops the song & goes in2 a mini sermon about how U shouldn't celebrate birthdays & U only have one day of birth, etc. Its good 2 have something U believe so strongly in,but accept that not everybody agrees. His last 4 albums all, in my opinion, has flashes of brilliance. But there is something about Planet Earth/Lotus/ MPLS that is something of an anti-climax 4 me. But this is a great musical journey I've been on since I was 3 yrs old & now I'm 28. It has had its ups & downs & there are albums of his I rarely ever listen 2 (mainly the 1996-2000  era. But even his "bad" stuff is better than most of these "artists'" good stuff.I've shared his music with my 4 yr old daughter & she'll tell U her favorite movie is Purple Rain, her favorite videos are Alphabet St, Mountains, Raspberry Beret, & America. Her favorite songs are No More Candy 4 U, I would die 4 U, 1999, & Lets Go Crazy. I hope she gets as much out of this journey that I have.
