RE: [epilepsy] Re: Transportation Problem

Hi,

I'm pleased you managed to find a neurologist to properly diagnose your epilepsy and treat it effectively. By the way what was the actual cause? I'm slightly confused where you say the medication stops you from getting "gran mal" seizures two or three times a month, and that you "only" get "tonic/clonic" seizures. Grand Mal is the old name for what is now referred to as tonic clonic seizures. There is though tonic seizures where you just lose muscle tone and fall (probably) and there is also clonic only seizures (where you get the muscle jerking, though apparently these are rare alone).

It took me FOUR YEARS to find a neurologist who was able to diagnose my epilepsy and find the cause. And another two years to find the right medicine to keep me from having gran mal seizures two or three times a month. I "only" have tonic/clonic seizures now and social security doesn't consider that a disability.

Keep trying. As long as your doctor doesn't say "I don't know why but these pills should stop the seizures" you're making progress.
