Hi....My name is Susanne and I live in NJ and have been through the same situation. I have had complex partials for 2 years. The doctor will have to document your seizures; ie.., if U ONLY have them in your sleep, if you know before hand if you will have a seizure and how long you have been seizure free. I lost my license for 2 years as I was no seizure free for a year. I finally got my license back a few months ago as I have been seizure free for a year. When U are seizure free for a year, your doctor will inform DMV and they have to get records from your doctor to re apply for your license. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Thank you, Kelly. I'll ask the question that has been on the forefront of my mind. For those of you with complex partials - do you drive? My doctor told me not to drive until after I have met with her. I wasn't planning to, but I've kind of been freaking out about the potential of not being able to drive, either for an extended time or permanently. I have 2 young sons (4 and 2) and need to get them so many places and have been thinking about all the logistics of what I'd do if I couldn't drive. And also the loss of independence. The more important thing is, of course, keeping my boys and me -- and anyone else out on the road -- safe, so I know that comes first. But I have been going through a lot of sadness thinking about it and wanted to know about others' experiences. Thanks for listening/reading!
