RE: [epilepsy] Re: Motivation vs. Depakote, Trileptal or Topamax

Hi all and happy new year! Not posting much but been following this as my 9
yr old 70lb daughter is on Tri & Depakote, 600mg Trileptal morning and night
plus Depakote.

This is down from where it was after working on her hydration levels which
seems to help with her energy levels too. She usually needs a nap after
school. Now I see she is like many here. We drink alkaline antioxidant
Kangen water but just staying well hydrated is important and helps many
reduce seizures and increase energy. Some Epi meds are known to effect
natural antioxidants in body. We also supplement with Vitamin E and that has
improved control further. Here's Epilepsy. com posts on seizures and
hydration worth your reading

to get thru the day! My doctor warned me that it makes you very
fatigued. What helps me is to NOT sit down or lie down and I can get some
stuff done but I'm not as active as I once was since I've been on this
medication.

been on it his anger outbursts have dropped dramatically, but getting him to
do anything is a chore. I really have to insist on him doing what needs to
be done, then he does it. He has ADHD and bipolar. We have done a lot of
different things and the medication is good now. His behavior is much
improved.

what he did. He then saw that he wasn't actually doing as much as he thought
and started doing more. Writing notes, making lists, the calender and
support have worked well with him. Maybe you can do that with her. Give her
a calender, a journal helps also so she can write her feelings out on a
daily basis. Doing things at a certain time helps also. I think that drug
takes out your desire for anything, it has to be forced in a way.

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences with it. How does it make you
feel?
