I read the full article and no place in the article did it say what you posted. You said phenobarbital is actually the drug most commonly used in people with epilepsy who are suicidal. Like I said, pheno isn't mentioned in the article.
Yes, the suicide rate for people with epilepsy is 300% higher than people who don't have epilepsy. It's an overall suicide rate because of epilepsy itself. Anything to do with epilepsy. Not just because of a particular medication.
Maybe I simply misread the article concerning pheno and suicide? Could you copy and paste the part of the article concerning pheno and suicide? I would be interested in finding stats concerning suicide rates of each particular anti seizure med.
