Thank you Liz for the info! :)
They said generalized, used to be complex partial four years ago. Got worse with time.

Hi Lynn,
Sorry for the late reply.
My seizures were complex partial ones with temporal lobe focus. From what you've written it appears you have generalized ones (probably generalized onset). As far as I know, surgery is an option only for partial onset seizures.
But fortunately generalized onset seizures are usually well controlled with medication unlike partial onset ones (especially those originating in the temporal lobe like I had). In my case it was medically refractive, where even strong doses of a cocktail of medication didn't help in achieving control. I was later on assessed to be a surgical candidate and had surgery in 2003. I'm staying completely seizure-free ever since.
So the bottomline is whether your onset is partial or generalized. One may have partial onset and secondary generalization (I used to occasionally do so) but since the onset is partial, it gets classified as primarily partial.
Thanks and best of luck,
Liz
