I am 62 in april. I have had a history of migraines. During menopause i stopped having headaches. 8 years, later i was in two car accidents 10 months apart. I have neck problems and i was referred to a neuro who specializes in headaches. After my 2nd accident last oct 2011 i started having atypical migraines. I was living alone and basically became a hermit. My eyes could not stand light and around 4pm every day i got electrical shooting pains in my head. I was taking klonopin to sleep and this past summer slowly over 3 months weaned myself off. My brother who has autism and is in his 50's had petit mal seizures. I could always tell when he had them. In my 30,s and 40's i had intense 3 to 4 day migraines and felt as i had seizures. Never was tested. I feared getting an mri
Fast forward, i finally forced myself to get an mri because my new neuro insisted. I fell put of my bed this summer, not sure how or why just was swrating and unsure of what happened. I had a headache then.
Monday i had been having a horrible headache all weekend but had an eeg scheduled at neuro. They were also giving me a tens unit for pain control. I felt sick but got myself to my appointment. Feeling dizzy and hot and headachey i was being taught how to use my tens unit. The 2 techs said i jerked my head to the side and had my hands in fists i looked up and saw many staff in the room. I did not know what happened. The dr.'s partner came in and said it was most likely a seizure, i was sweating profusely, nauseated head throbbibg. She suggested if i were able to have an eeg anyway. Thinking sibce i had that event it might show up on eeg. Nothing did and now i am waiting to get a three day eeg. My head hurts off and on daily with electric sparks in certain areas of my head. I am constantly tired, dizzy and disoriented. I had blamed memory loss on post cobcussion syndrome from car accidents.
Im worried if after a seizure on mon and immediately afterwards, an eeg showed nothing if it will show up in 3 day eeg. Are their blood tests? My mom who is 86 said my dads family had a history of seizures,
I am worried about my brain. It is not what it used to be and i am truly believing i have always had seizures?
Any thoughts would be appreciates, thanks so much nance
